At Barcelona R Ranch, pedigrees are studied alongside the horse standing in front of us. We consider the qualities we can see, what the horse demonstrates under saddle or in competition and the traits that have appeared consistently throughout the bloodline.

Barcelona R Ranch Foundation Mare
R.A. Arcoiris was imported from Ecuador in 2024 to become a foundation mare for Barcelona R Ranch. She was specifically selected as a potential complement to B.R. Preferido.
Her sire, R.A. Sonoro+, is a Laureado breeding stallion recognized for his production record in Ecuador. Her family also includes highly decorated mares, giving the program a bloodline valued for its accomplishments and consistency.
She represents the kind of mare around which a thoughtful Peruvian Horse breeding program can be built—one selected with both her individual qualities and extended family in mind.
R.A. Bambina Show-Honored in Ecuador

R.A. Bambina was selected as another foundation mare to introduce a purposeful bloodline into the Barcelona R Ranch breeding program.
Her show record in Ecuador includes recognition in both halter and bozal competition, with honors earned in Cuenca, Quito and at the Ecuadorian National Show.
Her selection was about more than ribbons. She brings a combination of pedigree, breed character and performance experience that supports the long-term direction of our Peruvian Horse breeding program in Florida.

He is 60% Barcelona R Ranch breeding, with lineage extending back seven generations. His development provides a living connection between earlier breeding decisions and the qualities we continue working to preserve today.
B.R. Superior is a clear example of the program’s continued attention to linebred pisos and qualities established within Barcelona R Ranch bloodlines.

International Bloodlines
R.A. Brillante II represents a concentration of Peruvian Horse bloodlines that remains uncommon in the United States.
This palomino Peruvian stallion was imported from Ecuador and brings together the bloodlines of JR Bambino, JEB Dandy, R.A. Arcoiris and R.A. Sonoro+.
That combination may be especially meaningful to breeders looking beyond familiar domestic pedigrees and considering a distinctive Peruvian Horse foundation prospect.

One of the most rewarding parts of a breeding program is watching a young horse begin to reveal the qualities considered when the pairing was planned.
Every foal develops differently. As our young Peruvian Horses mature, we observe their movement, balance, confidence, temperament and overall breed character. These early observations help us understand what each pairing produced and how the young horse may fit into the future of the program.
Young horses may be retained and developed as future breeding or show prospects, or offered for sale when another owner may be the right match.

Angel Ribó has been involved with Peruvian Horses since 1980 through breeding, training, showing, sales, judging and consulting. His experience evaluating horses in the United States, Canada and Ecuador provides a broader perspective on breed character, bloodlines, movement and presentation.
