Barcelona R Ranch is the result of a relationship with the Peruvian Horse that has continued for more than four decades.
What began in 1980 became a life’s work involving horses, bloodlines, show rings, breeders and owners in the United States and abroad. Today, that experience has a home on 10 acres in Webster, Florida, where Angel Ribó and Luis Vigo Saucedo work together to train horses, plan future breedings and help owners make thoughtful decisions.
Some people contact us with a young horse and a clear goal. Others are considering their first Peruvian Horse and are not yet sure what questions to ask. Both conversations are welcome.

The Story Behind the Ranch
Angel Ribó’s involvement with Peruvian Horses began in 1980. What started as a fascination with the breed became a lifelong pursuit—and a recognition that there is always more to learn.
Pedigrees can offer clues, but time reveals how a horse matures. Training can develop ability, but it must respect the individual. And a thoughtful breeding decision requires looking beyond one appealing quality to consider the complete horse.
Over the decades, Angel’s experience grew to include breeding, training, showing, sales, bloodline study and helping owners evaluate horses. It also led to lasting relationships with breeders, trainers and exhibitors in the United States and abroad.
Angel became an accredited Peruvian Horse judge in the early 1990s and later held judging credentials through NAPHA. He has judged regional, national and international events in the United States, Canada and Ecuador—experiences that continue to inform the work at Barcelona R Ranch today.

Angel Ribó’s professional life may seem to follow two very different paths—medicine and horses—but both have required the same qualities: careful observation, continued learning, clear communication and respect for the individual.
Angel graduated as a Physician Assistant from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in 1998. In 2002, he earned a Master of Physician Assistant Studies from the University of Nebraska Medical Center, with a specialization in infectious diseases. For nearly 20 years, he served as a primary care provider for people living with HIV/AIDS.
Before becoming a Physician Assistant, Angel spent eight years at Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas as a patient advocate and Spanish translator. A lifelong bilingual educator, he has presented to medical professionals and patients at educational conferences and meetings in the United States, Mexico and Spain.
An Afición That Began in 1980
The Peruvian Horse entered the Ribó family’s life in Dallas in 1980. The afición—a deep and enduring passion for the breed—took hold immediately. Barcelona R Ranch went on to breed and exhibit Peruvian Horses at the national level while dedicating itself to cherishing, promoting and improving the breed.
Angel was accredited as a judge by the AAOBPPH in the early 1990s and subsequently by the North American Peruvian Horse Association. After stepping away for several years, he reactivated his NAPHA judging credentials in 2016.
Judged the United States National Show in Santa Barbara, California.
Became the first American and first non-Peruvian judge invited to serve at Ecuador’s National Peruvian Horse Show.
Judged Ecuador’s National Show twice, along with regional shows in Guayaquil, Los Angeles, Miami and Washington, D.C.
Served as one of two conferring judges for the U.S. National Show in Scottsdale, Arizona.

Barcelona R Ranch is located on 10 acres in Webster, Florida, in the heart of Sumter County. Our location gives Peruvian Horse owners a Central Florida destination where they can meet the people behind the ranch, see the horses and have an unhurried conversation about their goals.
We regularly speak with owners from Webster and surrounding communities, as well as people from other parts of Florida and the Southeast. Approved horses may travel to the ranch for training, breeding or evaluation when space is available and arrangements are made in advance.

While our ranch is firmly rooted in Central Florida, our relationships within the Peruvian Horse community extend across state and national borders. Our Peruvian Horses are registered with the North American Peruvian Horse Association, commonly known as NAPHA. Barcelona R Ranch is also involved with the Southern States Peruvian Horse Club, a regional community supporting Peruvian Horse owners and enthusiasts throughout the South.
A breed remains strong when its knowledge is shared, its traditions are respected and new owners feel welcome enough to ask questions.

Angel contributes decades of knowledge involving bloodlines, breeding, judging and horse evaluation. Luis contributes daily training experience and an understanding of how each horse learns and develops. Together, they consider the horse’s pedigree, conformation, movement, temperament, training and future purpose.
